Uluwatu Beach Bali – Complete List
1. Padang Padang Beach
If you’re thinking Bali = eat, pray, love, this is it. Once settled on a little corner along the Southern beaches of Bali, Padang Padang beach has boomed in popularity over the years since the movie was released.
On the right you have an area with huge rocks lining your landscape photos, and on the left, you have a perfect area to swim. Particularly, the water goes deep pretty close to the shore, but a huge perpendicular cliff beside it breaks the waves, making this area has nice and calm water to enjoy the crystal blue waters. Truly added to the best beach to swim in Bali on my list.
This beach also has a surf shop to rent a surfboard and an instructor teach you how to master the waves. If you’re looking for a chill corner to read your books or suntan, there are sun beds for rent too.
I have to mention, the stairs entrance to this beach is incredible! At first, the small stairs passageway is built between huge cliff rocks. Walking further down to the beach just feels like an ultimate exclusive adventure waiting for you. Hidden behind these grand entrances, the beach emerged. Hands down my favorite Bali beach entrance.
Amenities in Bali beaches: toilet, surf shop, sun bed [$], umbrella [$], swim, stairs, carpark
Where is Padang Padang Beach: Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
2. Suluban Beach
A small hidden corner amongst the southern coastal cliffs in Bali, this blue water beach is gaining popularity with younger crowds who chance upon pictures and videos of this scenic gem on social media. Nothing beats going in person though! An absolute stunner without any filters on.
There are a few beachside hollow caves that you can take shade in while marveling at the view. Just before walking down to the beach, there are food stalls and shops, renting and teaching surfing. There are also great telescopic photographers who can snap great shots of you catching the waves.
Many experienced surfers love this spot. Coming back again and again over days or weeks, many leave their boards with the people here on the beach after their surf. The waves are larger and waters much deeper, so it is perfect for experienced surfers looking for the thrill of a ride.
The stairs down to the beach are very narrow and the steps are wide. It is also slippery from people walking up and down from the waters, so do be cautious.
Nearby the Suluban beach is the famous blue point beach. Spotting tons of beach clubs overlooking the beautiful blue sea, the blue point beach is a hot spot for partying.
Amenities in Bali beaches: toilet, surf shop [$], swim, stairs, food, carpark

3. Pandawa Beach
Pandawa beach, located right at the southernmost tip of the Bali Island, is fast growing to be the top beaches to visit in Bali. With a vast and long stretch of ocean blue waters, everything about this beach from the drive into the area, to the facilities, are something you shouldn’t miss out on.
The windy slope down the beach area is lined with photo spots to take paranormal shots of the ocean. Carved carefully in the cliff side rocks of the road are enormous statues of legends and Gods of Bali. Many of which tell stories of their own.
Lining the shoreline are many warung to enjoy a coconut, instant noodles or snacks. If you’re looking for luxury, head off to the beach clubs like Roosterfish Beach Club to lounge around and enjoy delicacies paired with a phenomenal view.
If you’re more of the adventurous type, go dip in the calm waves to enjoy the cool sea breeze or rent a kayak to row along the coast and get a closer look at the marine action on this beach.

4. Melasti Beach
Another stellar choice of deep blue waters beach, Melasti beach is well-known by locals and tourists alike for its chill vibe and great view. There are lots of local warung here, selling great tasty food before you spend your energy out in the waves. As a very popular spot for local tourists, many buses for companies and schools taking a field trip can be spotted out here.
There is also a huge mockup of a giant ship which seemed to be a decoration that you can take photos with.
In the evenings, there is a special beautiful cultural performance of Kecak dance to end the day off. With a unique view of the sun setting and disappearing in the horizon, the performance is surely an experience unique to Melasti Beach. You can purchase at the main entrance too, sold separately from the beach entrance. I highly recommend this, especially if you have yet to watch a Kecak performance. Kecak is a dance performance involving an ensemble of musicians and male vocalists who will chant and sing the Kecak, along with dancers telling a story with elaborate costumes and masks.
Of course, not forgetting the beach clubs, we have Tropical Temptation. An up-and-coming grand beach club overlooking the sea, and famous local and international DJs spinning in the evening till dusk to spice up your party. Along with White Rock, Minoo, the warung beach club, you will be spoiled for choice for your next party destination.
Amenities in Bali beaches: toilet, swim, food, beach club, performance, photo spots, ship, carpark
Where is Melasti Beach: Jl. Melasti Ungasan, Ungasan, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Feeling hungry? Check out Bali’s star favorites the BBQ Pork Ribs or yummy seafood by the beach!
5. Nyang Nyang Beach
The beach is full of rocks and moss with shallow waters, so it is not famous for swimming. However, if you are lucky, you may be able to spot some wild marine life such as fishes, crabs and starfishes. This is a perfect quiet beach to explore the animals that reside in the ocean. Even more so if you hate the bustle of a more popular beach spot.
Thus far, with only one warung, this beach is perfect for surfing in the mornings and paragliding in the afternoons or evenings.
There are no surf rental shops. Occasionally, seasoned surfers will bring their own boards to cruise. Nestled right beside a cliff side, the lack of development in the area makes it a perfect spot to have large green pastures to start off your paragliding experience with a guide behind you to help steer your parachute.
The road going down the beach is very steep and narrow, and only motorcycles are able to drive down. If you are taking a car, you will have to walk down the slope by foot.
Amenities in Bali Beaches: toilet, swim, food, marine life, carpark (motorcycle)
Where is Nyang Nyang Beach: Jl. Raya Uluwatu Pecatu, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia
6. Dreamland Beach
Last but definitely not least, is the Dreamland beach. Formerly, huge hotel and beach club which I assumed was popular pre-covid, got this beach the reputation of a party town. Sadly, the buildings now look old and abandoned. Regardless, there are many villas in the area, numerous tourists come here to have a nice tan before exploring more popular beaches around the island. There are some restaurants overlooking the sea too, serving western dishes. Several shops selling souvenirs and clothes are present as well, they can save you from going home wet if you forget to bring change.
best beach to swim in bali!
What’s unique about this beach is that the waves are strong – very strong. The roaring wave on this beach makes a fun adventure for bodyboarding, which you can rent on the shores of the beach. Getting through the roaring waves requires skill as well! Unquestionably, I myself have been thrown off to the shore multiple times. Before learning how to find an opening to enter the waves, I was badgered too many times to count.
Additionally, note that you should always rest on your board unless you are a very experienced swimmer as the waves are very strong, resulting in you getting pulled you out to the deep sea easily. Certainly, swimming to shore also requires know-hows on when to set off. Nevertheless, be careful and you’ll have lots of fun here!
The road down to the beach is very narrow, and only motorcycles can ride through. However, it is not too steep, and you can walk from the parking lot further up.

Note that all the Bali beaches collect a small fee to help maintain the facilities. Price per ticket varies from Rp 10,000 to Rp 30,000 for Indonesians and more for tourists.
Alas, my top 6! It was such a long one, but it seems perfect for my first post on this blog since I can never get over all the Uluwatu beach Bali. (“:
Most are generally quite quiet throughout the day. Except for Padang Padang beach which is lodge in a very small area, most of the beaches will have groups of people visiting to take photos, then leave shortly after. Definitely worth a visit.
